If your idea of the ideal workplace is one where people wear suits and speak in hushed voices, you should probably stop reading this right now. Unfortunately, you should probably also stop reading if you want a job that you can leave at 5 pm on the dot every evening. If your job is not affected during this covid-19 pandemic, thank to Technology.
The mecca of research, development and innovation
Perhaps the biggest reason to work in the technology is the work itself. If you’re interested in being on the principle of research, discovery, development and innovation, there is likely no better industry to be in.
As an industry, technology is focused on breaking new ground. Technology professionals are embedded into a culture of movement, growth and advancement. Their work environments become a birthplace where new and inventive concepts take shape.
This field is especially great if you are creative – creativity breeds innovation, and innovation is ultimately rewarded. Plus, surrounding yourself with like-minded creative types only helps the process.
Meaningful work
Technology isn’t only about coming up with new ideas – it also involves figuring out how to make those ideas work.
This industry is all about coming up with solutions. Of course, this means that there’s a lot of problem-solving involved. If you’re the type who loves a good puzzle, technology is probably a good place for you to focus your skillset.
There are few industries that shifts the way the world lives and functions the way that technology does. It aims to make everything – no matter how trivial – easier, faster, and better.
Challenges and no boring to do same stuffs daily
The technology industry is a perfect avenue for those looking for constant challenges in their work. Technology professionals aim to solve virtually every problem people encounter, and even offer new options for things we never thought needed fixing.
For most, this challenge is welcome. The industry will bring the best out of you, because it asks for so much. Whether you are network administrator, IT professional or a rocket scientist, your work will rarely, if ever, be boring.
Variety - alot of options
The work of a technology professional can be incredibly vast – there is very little one can’t do. The most popular areas of the industry today include software, communications, high-tech manufacturing, and computer-related services.
While technology is an industry itself, it overlaps with virtually every other industry. Technology professionals work in medicine, agriculture, transportation, energy, entertainment, and even “white-collar” professions such as law, banking, and financial services.
The great thing about this is that professionals can marry their passions that lie in other fields with their love of technology – in short, they can enjoy the best of both worlds in their career.
High demand, high pay
Since technology is integral to the success of so many different fields, it should come as no surprise that technology professionals are in demand – always.
So as long as there are problems within an industry that require a solution, the skills of a technology professional will always be an employable asset.
This usually means considerable compensation. After all, their work is difficult, necessary, and well valued. To this end, technology professionals are quite often among the most well-paid professionals of any organization and industry.
It’s where the jobs are
Other industries wax and wane but, tech bubbles notwithstanding, the tech industry is adding jobs at a dependable clip.
In 2014, Pew Research published an analysis showing how tech sector jobs had nearly doubled from just over 2 billion jobs in 1997 to just under 4 billion in 2012. And head counts have only grown since then.
They need your non-tech skills
No matter what you do, there’s a tech company out there that needs your skills. Know how to make a really good cream puff? Big tech companies like Google could use your baking skills in Youtube.
Or take me. I’m an Engineer by heart, with a professional Bachelor’s Degree in IT and no writing training whatsoever. But when I’m not working, most of my PTO is writing about Technology, Security, IT Management, Minimalism at my website like this one.
Your career can grow rapidly
Just imagine for a moment what kind of advancement opportunities you might have in a company whose head count has grown by twenty times?
And when I joined Myntra in 2014 is certainly a very fast growing company, it’s by no means alone. Small, fast-growing start-up companies are a great place for this kind of rapid advancement. But there are plenty of large tech firms that are still growing, and may offer more benefits.
Choose or decide at right time when to join at what type of companies, technology not always stagnent at one place. It keeps changing.
You’re passionate about what you do
Fear of failure, is not welcome at technological companies (if true core tech companies).
I know because you’re reading this article. Either you love what you do, or you dream of having a career you could love. That kind of passion works very well in a tech company.
“People who are successful at technological companies, with or without technical backgrounds, are passionate, have an adventurous nature, and are willing to try something and fail at it.”
Technical Hiiring Managers, look at that intensity and perseverence and thought s/he would take a chance on non-technical or techncial person. (remember fear of failure not work here)
Growing, In demand, Innovative and Fun
The technology industry may be one of the most challenging, inspiring, and rewarding industries today. It’s hotbed for both recent graduates and experienced professionals – and in recent years, the industry has been growing and evolving at a rapid pace.
If you have the right personality, they want to train you. It’s fun to learn new things in with your tee-shirts and shorts on only, no formals or suits.
